Meet the Makers

Manu O.
He/Him
Hi there! I’m Manu. I’m 28, from a beautiful town in southern Spain. I moved to the UK in 2017, and it’s been an adventure ever since. From travelling around Europe in a van to deepening my commitment to sustainability, I’ve learned a great deal along the way. Since becoming vegan in 2017, I’ve explored sustainable crafting, from building my own furniture to crocheting blankets and carving decorations, and now tackling the art of sewing.
Apart from crafting, I also run a YouTube channel where I share my journey of building things by hand and embracing a slower, more mindful way of living. My videos reflect my passion for simplicity and sustainability, inviting others to slow down and find joy in the art of making.
Crafting is a big part of my life, and I’m passionate about sustainable living. I enjoy gardening, practising permaculture, forest walks, yoga, and reading. I’m thrilled to bring Sakte to life with Anaïs and share this journey with all of you. 🍃
I also run a web design and marketing company, established in 2018, and I’m also the co-founder of a non-profit organisation dedicated to yoga and meditation.

Anaïs
She/Her
Hi! My name is Anaïs (Ana-ees). I’m 30, from a small Mediterranean village in the South East of Spain, and I moved to the UK in 2017🌹
My journey has taken me through many creative paths, from dog grooming and tattoo apprentice to photography and illustration, but crafting has always been the heart of what I do, especially knitting, for it was my nan who first taught me how to knit at the age of 15 ✨
I’m passionate about living in accordance with natural cycles, buying local and second-hand whenever possible.
Outside of crafting, I love going for walks in the woods, watching romantic films that make me cry, reading romance books, caring for my plants, cooking, and being an astrologer, too! 🌸
Thank you for being here and joining us on this beautiful crafting community at Sakte 🍃
Our Story
Our story began on a cool October evening in 2017, at a Spanish gathering in Liverpool. That night, we became inseparable best friends, bonding over our shared love of slow, mindful living and sustainable practices. Since then, life has taken us on different paths – Manu travelled across the UK and Spain in a van with his now husband, and Anaïs fell in love, changed careers, and became a mother. But our friendship and shared vision kept bringing us back together.
When the pandemic struck, we decided it was time to turn our passion for crafting into something more. We created Sakte as a space where we could share our love for the slow life and hand-crafted artistry with others. Here, we offer a variety of hand-made products and tutorials, from macrame plant hangers to crochet accessories and beyond.
Sakte is about slowing down, appreciating the beauty in the details, and creating with care.
